Origin:
Scott Sterling is a game created by 5/8ths of the league at the time. The group went to a cabin for a guys' weekend. On the second day, the group was extremely hungover and finished a round of poker. While packing up the poker set, one of the members tossed out a random set of dice. Each of us grabbed a dice, and soon we were able to create a simple yet extremely exciting drinking game. The game involves "taking shots to the face" and thus was named after the group's favorite YouTube video at the time "Scott Sterling" (view here).
How the game works:
Seat a group (2-12 people) around a table. Technically, more than 12 people can play, but it is not recommended (you will see why as you read the rules). Each person at the table has their own dice and shot glass. To begin the game, every member of the group holds their dice out and yells "Scott Sterling!". After yelling, all members drop their dice. Lowest roll has to take a shot. Loser of the any round becomes "Sterling" and has to roll first next. Turns go clockwise after the "Sterling" roll.
In the event of a tie on any roll (i.e. 2 or more people roll a 1), all members with low roll put their shots to the center of the table and have a "roll off" to decide who takes the shots. A shot is added by each member for every tie (i.e. 3 people roll 1, 3 shots to middle, roll off, 2 people roll 1, 2 more shots to middle, roll off, loser takes 5 shots).
Any time the loser of a round has to take 3 or more shots, the group has to chant as the loser takes their shots. Chants go in order as follows:
1st shot: "One is the loneliest number"
2nd shot: "Two tickets to paradise"
3rd shot: "Three times a lady"
4th shot: "Forrrrrrr (hold from moment shot is picked up until glass touches loser's lips) ever young"
5th shot: "Five to stay alive"
6th shot: "Six for the chicks"
7th shot: "Seven to go to heaven"
8th shot: "Eight to be great"
9th shot: "Nine to be fine"
10th shot: "Ten this is the end"
(make up your own from there)
Similar to the game War, you continue to add shots for every tie. If the loser ever has to take too many shots, they are able to "call for a stretcher" where the group divides the shots to complete the round. Game is determined by a fixed amount of liquor or fixed amount of shots per player. Another option is "sudden death": when you are ready for the game to end, each player gets one shot and is "out" once they lose a round. In any scenario, last player with an undrank shot wins.
Items needed to play:
Dice (minimum 2, ideally 1 per player)
Shot glasses (1 per player)
Alcohol (mixed shots, liquor, beer, etc.)
